The Gay Adult: Calling Ourselves into Being

Four decades after the Stonewall rebellion in New York and three decades after Harvey Milk made history in San Francisco, today’s gay generation is coming together to build on these legacies and redefine “Gay Liberation” for the twenty-first century. While struggles for equality in marriage and the military continue, a “gay generation gap” has recently emerged around issues of HIV/AIDS prevention and the right for social acceptance among gay youth.

In response to these important social challenges, this major community gathering is being presented by 100 Gay Men and community partners to foster expanded community engagement through inter-generational cooperation.

  • To create an open community forum for dialogue among gay youth, adults and elders.
  • To re-envision the role of gay adults in our society today and in the future.
  • To discover unique ways for gay people to get involved and make a difference in the community.

The conference will feature important community leaders including Rev. Dr. Neil Thomas (Senior Pastor, Metropolitan Community Church, Los Angeles) and will be co-moderated by Roberto Blain (Director of Talent Services, University of Southern California) and Edward Hansen (former Pastor, Hollywood United Methodist Church), among other community leaders in a highly interactive day of community building and brotherhood.
